Indiana Fever Nears WNBA Record for 100‑Point Losses
On July 8 the Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Indiana Fever 106‑90, giving the Fever their eighth 100‑plus‑point loss of the 2026 WNBA season. The team is now one game away from tying the league record of nine such games set by the Dallas Wings in 2024 and two games away from surpassing it. Despite allowing high scores in some games, the Fever rank only fourth‑worst in opponent points per game (89.7) and have a 12‑9 record after the Sparks loss.
Guard Kelsey Mitchell described the defensive performance as “ugly,” saying the team “shot ourselves in the foot” and struggled to find offensive flow. The Fever will try to rebound in their next matchup on July 9 against the Phoenix Mercury, a team that has allowed 100‑point totals only twice this season.
The Fever’s defensive lapses have contributed to a 1‑7 record in games where opponents score 100 points or more, with the only win coming in an overtime 114‑106 victory over the Chicago Sky on June 11.
