Indiana hosts community events for agriculture and science education

Various educational and community events recently took place across Indiana, focusing on agriculture and science. At Jasper Middle School, more than 500 students participated in Indiana Food Day. The event, hosted by Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools, featured local farmers and food producers, with a specific statewide focus on tomatoes this year. Students engaged in agriculture lessons and sampled local products, including items from Red Gold and Fischer Farms. The school district is currently seeking additional funding to expand its Farm to School program and increase the availability of local, whole foods for students.

Separately, the 15th annual Celebrate Science Indiana Festival was held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Organized by the Science Education Foundation of Indiana, the festival attracted approximately 4,000 attendees, including students and families. The event provided hands-on learning opportunities in fields such as robotics, health science, and video game design. The festival aims to introduce children to STEM careers and encourage curiosity outside of the traditional classroom setting.
