Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council bars Todd Rokita from conference

The Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC) has barred Attorney General Todd Rokita from attending its upcoming winter training conference. The decision follows negative public comments Rokita made regarding prosecutors and the IPAC, as well as concerns regarding his remarks about Lake County Prosecuting Attorney Bernie Carter.

In a letter to Rokita, the IPAC board stated that the Attorney General must apologize for his past conduct and statements to be eligible for future events. The board also requested that he refrain from making overtly political statements upon his return.

In response to the ban, the Office of the Attorney General has withdrawn from the December 9 conference entirely. Chief Deputy Attorney General Lori Torres stated that the office will not send presenters, attendees, or staff the event, noting that the office functions as a unified organization.
