Indiana QB Josh Hoover faces scrutiny after Western Kentucky win

Indiana University quarterback Josh Hoover is facing increased scrutiny following a 38-0 victory over Western Kentucky. Despite the win, Hoover's Heisman Trophy odds shifted from 17/1 to 25/1 after a performance that saw him complete 18 of 24 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns.

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti defended Hoover against critics, describing the scrutiny as “unfair” and noting that the quarterback has maintained high efficiency throughout the season. Hoover has completed over 72% of his passes and thrown 10 touchdowns without an interception through the first three games of the season.

While some analysts suggest Hoover's Heisman stock has dipped due to the strength of Indiana's early schedule, supporters point to his overall efficiency and the team's undefeated record as he continues his role as the successor to former standout Fernando Mendoza.
