Indiana State Police conduct Operation BASH enforcement
The Indiana State Police conducted a three-day enforcement initiative known as Operation BASH in Northwest Indiana from September 22 to 24. The operation, named in honor of four officers involved in shootings earlier this summer, aimed to reduce violent crime and improve roadway safety.
The initiative resulted in 62 arrests and 989 citations. Among those arrested, seven individuals possessed significant criminal histories, including violent felonies. During the operation, troopers engaged in two vehicle pursuits that crossed into Illinois, leading to the arrest of three individuals with violent felony records, two of whom were armed.
ISP Superintendent Anthony Scott noted an unprecedented level of collaboration during the project, which involved investigators, SWAT teams, and the Drug Enforcement Section from across the state. Statistics from the operation include 15 warrants served, 19 drug offenses, and 26 operating while intoxicated (OWI) offenses.
