Indiana State Police issue 8,650 commercial vehicle violations in July 2026
The Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) completed 4,703 commercial motor vehicle inspections from June 15 to July 15, 2026. The effort resulted in 575 drivers and 597 vehicles being placed out of service, 46 oversize and 256 overweight violations, and a total of 8,650 citations issued.
During the month, CVED partnered with agencies in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Iowa on several initiatives, including a joint “move‑over/slow‑down” enforcement sweep, the national Operation Safe Driver program, the Six‑State Trooper Project, and Operation Highway Shield. The latter operation, coordinated with the FMCSA, HSI, ICE and FEMA, led to the arrest of 86 commercial drivers and 766 out‑of‑service orders targeting unqualified foreign operators on U.S. highways.
The enforcement actions are part of Governor Mike Braun’s public‑safety agenda to keep Indiana’s roads safe for travelers and freight operators.
