Indiana weather shifts from record heat to frost and storms

Indiana is experiencing extreme temperature fluctuations this week. Record-setting warmth is expected on Tuesday, with Indianapolis potentially breaking its previous high of 86 degrees set in 1975. High temperatures are forecasted to reach the mid-80s to lower 90s.

A frontal boundary moving in from the northwest will bring a shift in weather patterns. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to increase Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday and Thursday, with the possibility of locally heavy rain and strong storms.

By the weekend, a significant cooldown will occur as Canadian high pressure moves into the region. Temperatures will drop sharply, bringing gusty winds and a threat of frost or freeze conditions, particularly on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
