Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner cleared for training camp

Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner of the Indianapolis Colts was cleared to resume football activities ahead of the team's training camp, marking what he described as a “graduation day” after undergoing neck surgery in December. Buckner, 32, missed most of the 2025 season due to the injury and a subsequent stem‑cell treatment stint in Panama, but will now participate in drills as the Colts prepare for the 2026 season.

General manager Chris Ballard confirmed Buckner’s clearance and said the veteran will be eased back into full contact. The camp also saw quarterback Daniel Jones cleared to practice, rookie linebacker Allen dealing with a calf issue, and wide receiver Alec Pierce listed on the physically unable to perform list as he continues rehab from ankle surgery. Buckner, an 11‑year NFL veteran and former two‑time All‑Pro, is expected to contribute to the Colts’ defensive line once fully acclimated.
