Indianapolis Colts face criticism over pass rush and organizational stagnation

Analyst Zak Keefer has criticized the Indianapolis Colts' management under Chris Ballard, identifying the failure to develop an effective edge pass rush as a primary shortcoming. While Ballard has been credited with securing players like DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart, the team has struggled to find consistent pressure from the edges, with the highest single-season sack total in the Ballard era coming from free agent Justin Houston.

Keefer also noted a growing sense of apathy among the Colts' fan base, describing the team as “incredibly stale.” To address organizational issues, he suggested that owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon might consider hiring a team president to oversee operations, a structure utilized by the Rams, Chiefs, and Jaguars, to allow a general manager to focus more on football operations.

Regarding the quarterback position, Keefer suggested that head coach Shane Steichen may lack full trust in Anthony Richardson to lead the offense, noting that Daniel Jones remains a key figure in the current dynamic.
