Indianapolis Colts face WR depth concerns as Alec Pierce injured

The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2026 offseason after trading veteran Michael Pittman Jr. and signing wide receiver Alec Pierce to a $114 million contract. During training camp Pierce suffered an injury that kept him out of practice, leaving the Colts without their primary deep‑threat target.

With Pierce sidelined, the receiving corps relies on Josh Downs and the newly signed free agent Nick Westbrook‑Ikhine, who has shown promise in camp. The team is also evaluating other options, including veteran Keenan Allen, as they have roughly $31 million in cap space to add a receiver before Week 1. Head coach Shane Steichen and GM Chris Ballard are monitoring the situation closely to address the depth question at wide receiver.

The injury adds uncertainty to the Colts' passing game as they seek to replace the production lost from Pittman Jr.'s departure.
