Indianapolis Colts sign wide receiver Darius Slayton
The Indianapolis Colts have signed veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton to address depth issues in their receiving corps. The move follows an injury to Alec Pierce, who is expected to miss several weeks due to an aggravated heel injury sustained during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Slayton, 28, joins the Colts after spending seven seasons with the New York Giants. The signing reunites him with former teammate Daniel Jones, who was also drafted by the Giants in 2019. Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter noted Slayton’s experience and his established rapport with Jones.
During his tenure in New York, Slayton recorded 296 catches for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns. The Colts' roster moves also included placing defensive end Michael Clemons on the injured reserve list and releasing running back Anderson Castle from the practice squad.
