Baltimore Ravens name Jovaughn Gwyn starting center for Week 1

As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for their Week 1 opener against the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Jesse Minter has named Jovaughn Gwyn as the starting center. Gwyn, a former seventh-round pick from the Atlanta Falcons, will make his first professional start following the loss of Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum to free agency and a season-ending knee injury to Danny Pinter.

On the Colts side, wide receiver Alec Pierce is expected to be ready for the season opener after recovering from ankle surgery performed in March. Pierce, who signed a significant four-year contract in the offseason, is expected to play a prominent role alongside new addition Keenan Allen. Quarterback Daniel Jones has reported building good chemistry with Allen during practice.

The Colts' unofficial depth chart also reveals several roster updates, including Sedrick Van Pran-Granger as the primary backup center and rookie Seth McGowan earning the second-string running back position behind Jonathan Taylor. Meanwhile, the Ravens' offensive line will feature rookie Vega Ioane at right guard, contributing to a relatively inexperienced interior unit for the Week 1 matchup.
