Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce on track for Week 1 return
Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard stated that wide receiver Alec Pierce is on track to return for Week 1 of the NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens. Pierce is currently recovering from foot surgery performed in March.
Ballard clarified that Pierce did not receive a second platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection following his surgery, correcting previous reports. Pierce had previously received one PRP injection in January to address soreness in his heel and ankle.
The Colts recently signed Pierce to a four-year, $114 million contract, making him the team's primary wide receiver following the trade of Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pierce recorded 1,003 receiving yards and six touchdowns last season.
