India's AISA slams paper‑leak laws and decries student arrests

All India Students’ Association (AISA) national president Neha Bora condemned the Union Government’s anti‑paper‑leak legislation as “toothless”, arguing that merely raising penalties will not stop examination leaks. She called for the scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA) or for its conversion into a statutory body with clear accountability, and criticised the National Education Policy for centralising entrance exams, which she said has increased vulnerability to leaks.

AISA also alleged a nationwide crackdown on students protesting the leaks, reporting arrests and detentions in Delhi, Bihar and other states. Bora said, “We were assured that students protesting peacefully would not face repression…”, and urged the Centre to release those detained, including CPI(ML) Liberation MLA Sandeep Saurav and other activists.
