India's Anti-Corruption Bureau busts bribe schemes involving a PWD engineer and a municipal assistant

The Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajasthan arrested Executive Engineer Krishna Avatar Gupta of the Public Works Department in Alwar after a trap operation caught him accepting a ₹25,000 bribe. Gupta had been demanding a total of ₹40,000 for a No Objection Certificate needed to set up an HPCL petrol pump at Barkheda village on State Highway‑44, having already taken ₹10,000 earlier. The ACB seized the cash on May 1, 2026, placed the official under interrogation and filed a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In a separate case, the ACB apprehended a junior assistant of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) after he accepted a bribe of ₹1 lakh. The arrests highlight ongoing anti‑corruption actions across Indian states.
