India's automotive industry shifts toward software and advanced lighting

The Indian automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation driven by advancements in software and specialized hardware. The shift toward software-defined vehicles (SDVs) is expected to move from concept to large-scale industrial implementation over the next five years. This evolution emphasizes centralized architectures, over-the-air updates, and reusable software platforms that allow vehicles to evolve throughout their lifecycle.

Parallel to software integration, there is a growing demand for advanced automotive lighting technologies. As manufacturers focus on safety, energy efficiency, and electric mobility, lighting has transitioned from simple illumination to a critical component of vehicle identity and signaling. Indian suppliers are increasingly supporting original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with LED-based solutions and complex electronic integrations for various vehicle types, including two-wheelers and electric vehicles.

Artificial Intelligence is also expected to move from the experimentation phase to commercial execution by 2030, impacting areas such as automated driving, digital cockpits, and predictive diagnostics.
