India's Aviation Growth Faces Geopolitical Risks Amid Push for Air Cargo Reforms

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, warned that its FY27 outlook is highly sensitive to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, crude‑oil price volatility and foreign‑exchange fluctuations. Ongoing airspace closures and supply‑chain constraints have raised operating costs and could cause schedule disruptions. The carrier plans an aggressive international expansion, targeting a 600‑aircraft fleet by 2030 with a higher share of owned aircraft.

The 7th ACFI World Conclave 2026, held in New Delhi, gathered more than 700 delegates to discuss the country’s air‑cargo agenda. Industry leaders stressed that sustained growth will depend on faster regulatory approvals, deeper digital integration, improved infrastructure and stronger public‑private collaboration. The conclave positioned India at the forefront of building resilient global supply chains.

Both developments highlight the dual challenge for India’s aviation sector: navigating external risk factors while strengthening the cargo ecosystem to support expanding trade.
