India's CBDT holds international webinar on new Income‑tax Act 2025
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) organised an outreach webinar titled "Decoding the new Income‑tax Act, 2025 – International Tax and Transfer Pricing Aspects" to explain the transition to the updated tax law and the accompanying Income‑tax Rules, 2026. The virtual event, held on 9 June 2026, attracted more than 1,100 participants from 16 overseas jurisdictions, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, China, Singapore, Japan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and others.
Senior officials from the Income‑Tax Department – Principal Chief Commissioner Monica Bhatia, Chief Commissioner Raman Chopra and Commissioner Anjula Jain – addressed the audience together with senior partners from PwC India. The discussion focused on cross‑border taxation, transfer‑pricing mechanisms, the role of Advance Pricing Agreements and Safe Harbour provisions, and the key structural reforms introduced by the new Act compared with the 1961 Act. Participants raised numerous queries, which were answered by the officials. Attendees praised the initiative and expressed interest in further engagements with the department.
