India's Congress Party protests over Ram Temple donation scandal
Congress leaders in India have launched protests demanding an impartial, high‑level investigation into alleged irregularities in donations collected for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In Himachal Pradesh, party workers marched through Dharamsala under the leadership of Rajya Sabha MP Anurag Sharma, carrying placards and chanting slogans against the BJP‑led Union government. Senior state officials, including Rural Development Minister Yadvinder Goma and several MLAs, joined the rally and concluded with prayers at the Hanuman Temple.
Separately, Tamil Nadu Congress figure Manickam Tagore warned that the party would raise the donation issue in the upcoming parliamentary session, accusing the BJP and RSS of misappropriating funds meant for the temple. Tagore linked the controversy to broader political battles, asserting that the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi must intervene to halt the alleged theft and ensure transparency.
