India's deep-tech start-ups drive indigenous drone and space technology

India is experiencing a surge in technological self-reliance driven by deep-tech start-ups specializing in aerospace and defense. In the drone sector, companies like EndureAir are developing indigenous aerial robotics and radar systems tailored to India's diverse geography, including high-altitude regions and maritime borders. One such platform, the SABAL-20, is a tactical logistics drone designed for difficult terrain with a 20 kg payload capacity.

Simultaneously, the space sector is seeing growth through innovation hubs like T-Works in Hyderabad. Start-ups such as Spantrik are working to reduce mission costs by developing reusable launch systems and in-house components, including rocket engines and avionics. These efforts aim to decrease reliance on imported hardware while addressing critical orbital challenges like space debris.
