India and Armenia sign defence industry cooperation MoU

India and Armenia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the defence sector, specifically focusing on research, development, innovation, and shared production. The agreement aims to expand bilateral defence industrial cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh conducted a two-day official visit to Yerevan to facilitate these discussions. During the visit, Singh met with several Armenian officials, including Minister of High Tech Industry Davit Tadevosyan, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, and Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Edvard Asryan. The meetings focused on deepening the strategic partnership and exploring new avenues for military-technical engagement.

The collaboration follows a period of increasing engagement between the two nations, including a visit by a high-level Armenian military delegation to New Delhi earlier this year. Discussions also covered capacity building, training, and the review of the full scope of bilateral defence cooperation.
