India's electrical infrastructure industry projected to grow 12–14% annually
India's wires and cables industry is projected to grow at an annual rate of 12–14%, reaching ₹1.2 lakh crore by FY2027, according to ICRA. This growth is driven by expanding residential and commercial real estate, as well as significant investments in power transmission, renewable energy, industrial facilities, and general infrastructure.
Copper and other conductive materials serve as essential inputs for this ecosystem, supporting the production of conductors, wires, and cables used in power networks and industrial applications. Key players in the value chain include KEI Industries Limited, which provides a wide range of products including PVC-insulated, low-voltage, and extra-high-voltage cables for sectors such as railways and renewable energy.
Additionally, Gopalan Metals, based in Bengaluru, manufactures copper products like rods, wires, and busbars, and has expanded into the building-wires segment. Gujarat Copper Alloys also contributes to the sector by manufacturing various copper and copper-alloy products including foils and profiles.
