India's Enforcement Directorate raids 13 sites in four states over Rohingya terror funding network
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), acting on a case registered by the Uttar Pradesh Anti‑Terrorism Squad, carried out coordinated raids on July 16 at 13 premises across West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Search teams targeted madrasa premises in Hasnabad and Haroa, a private hospital, several educational institutions and charitable trusts linked to businessman Abdus Samad. In West Bengal’s Kalikapur madrasa, officials seized approximately ₹40 lakh in cash and 180 g of gold.
Investigators allege the network facilitated the illegal entry of Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals into India, forged Indian identity documents and arranged their settlement. The financial trail is said to involve foreign contributions routed through charitable trusts, mule accounts and layered transactions, with cash withdrawals and small‑value transfers used to obscure the money flow. No arrests were announced, and the ED continues to examine seized documents, digital evidence and financial records.
The operation forms part of a broader money‑laundering probe under the Prevention of Money‑Laundering Act, aimed at disrupting alleged terror funding and illegal infiltration activities.
