India's EPFO Credits 8.25% PF Interest to Millions of Members

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has begun crediting the 8.25% interest rate for the 2025‑26 financial year to members' PF accounts. By July 15, the agency said it had transferred interest to roughly 34‑35 crore accounts, amounting to about ₹1.44 lakh crore in total. A new centralized digital system accelerated the process, allowing members to verify the credit instantly via the UMANG app, EPFO Member e‑Sewa portal, Passbook Lite, SMS or missed‑call services. Interest appears as a separate entry in the passbook; members whose accounts have not yet shown the credit are advised to wait a few days as transfers are phased. EPFO confirmed that late posting does not reduce the accrued interest, and no additional application is required.

The rollout aims to make PF services faster and more transparent, reducing errors and improving overall member experience.
