India's EPFO launches Aadhaar‑linked portal to locate dormant PF accounts

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will roll out a digital portal that uses Aadhaar authentication to help beneficiaries identify and access old, inactive Provident Fund (PF) accounts. Announced in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje, the portal will let users locate dormant accounts, transfer balances to their current Universal Account Number (UAN), or withdraw funds directly, cutting down paperwork and office visits.

The government said about 30.9 million PF accounts were inactive as of 31 March, with roughly ₹9,330 crore unclaimed. The new system aims to bring these funds back to workers and encourage settlement of dormant accounts. In addition, EPFO has started crediting an 8.25 % interest rate for the financial year 2025‑26 to members’ accounts.
