EPFO rolls out digital upgrades, automatic PF transfers and 6‑month amnesty scheme 2026

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched several reforms in 2026. A new Centralised IT Enabled Services (CITES) platform migrates the member database to a unified digital system, allowing members to access PF and pension services online from any location. The platform also introduces a centralized payment architecture that credits claim settlements and interest directly to bank accounts on the day of settlement, with an estimated ₹1.44 lakh crore at 8.25% interest to be credited to 34 crore accounts by 15 July.

Under the same digital upgrade, PF balances linked to an Aadhaar‑verified Universal Account Number (UAN) are now transferred automatically when an employee changes jobs, eliminating the need for a separate transfer request. The system also consolidates multiple PF accounts under a single UAN, simplifying record‑keeping and final settlements.

In parallel, EPFO has opened a six‑month Amnesty Scheme 2026 for establishments that run exempted Provident Fund trusts recognised under the Income‑Tax Act but lack a formal exemption notification under the EPF Act. The scheme offers retrospective exemption and trust recognition, waives minimum employee headcount and corpus size rules, and withdraws pending dues, damages and interest assessments, provided contributions and interest were credited at statutory or better rates. Eligible establishments must apply through the appropriate regional office within the six‑month window.
