EPFO Begins Distributing 8.25% FY 2025‑26 Interest to Millions of Members
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started crediting interest for the financial year 2025‑26 at an annual rate of 8.25% to employee provident fund (EPF) accounts. The deposit is being made in phases, and many members have already received SMS notifications confirming the credit. Approximately ₹1.44 lakh crore is slated to be transferred to roughly 34 crore EPF accounts.
Members can verify the interest by logging into the EPFO Member Passbook portal, using the UMANG mobile app, or through free services such as a missed‑call to 011‑22901406 and an SMS to 7738299899. The balance may not appear immediately in the passbook because EPFO is updating accounts in batches. The organization also announced the EPFO 3.0 initiative, which will allow partial withdrawals of up to 75% of the balance and enable fund transfers via UPI‑ATM and other digital channels.
If interest is not visible right away, it is expected to appear later without any loss to the member, as interest is calculated on the monthly running balance and credited at year‑end.
