India’s extreme heat triggers storm alerts in Rajasthan and digital transport aid in Srinagar

In Rajasthan, temperatures surged to 45.1 °C in Shri Ganganagar, making it the country’s hottest district. The state weather department issued a yellow alert for storms and rain across 26 districts and warned that the monsoon could enter the region by the end of the week, starting with Kota and Baran.

In Srinagar, the regional transport office responded to the heatwave by launching an official WhatsApp service for complaints and licence‑related requests. Officials said enquiries will be addressed within 48 hours and urged citizens to use digital channels to avoid unnecessary travel, aligning the initiative with the Digital India programme.
