India's Film Censor Board Issues Ratings for Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared Emraan Hashmi’s sequel Awarapan 2 with a U/A 16+ certificate after the makers made nine edits, including trimming violent scenes, removing objectionable language, and adding anti‑drug and anti‑smoking warnings. About four minutes of footage were cut, but the final runtime remained 140 minutes. The film is slated for release on 14 August 2026.

For the period drama Batwara 1947, director Rajkumar Santoshi explained that the producers accepted an A (Adults Only) certificate without any cuts, preferring to avoid a second screening that might have required edits. The film, set against the 1947 Partition, features an ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol and is scheduled for an Independence Day weekend release.
