India's foreign exchange reserves climb to $674.2 billion
India's foreign exchange reserves increased by $7.26 billion in the week ended July 3, reaching $674.19 billion, according to Reserve Bank of India data released on July 10. The rise was driven by a $4.51 billion gain in foreign currency assets, which rose to $545.58 billion, and a $2.67 billion increase in gold holdings, bringing the gold reserve to $105.21 billion. Special Drawing Rights grew by $65 million to $18.62 billion and the RBI’s reserve position with the IMF rose by $15 million to $4.79 billion.
Despite the weekly uptick, the total reserve stock remains $16.92 billion below the level recorded at the end of March 2026, and $25.54 billion lower on a year‑on‑year basis. However, gold holdings have risen by $20.36 billion over the past year, reflecting continued accumulation of the precious metal.
