India's FY2026‑27 GDP projected to grow 6.5‑6.8% by Deloitte

Deloitte India’s Economic Outlook report projects gross domestic product growth of 6.5 % to 6.8 % for the fiscal year 2026‑27. The forecast follows a recent RBI revision that lowered the 2025‑26 growth estimate to 6.6 % from 6.9 %.

The firm expects the pace to pick up in the second half of the fiscal year, driven by festive‑season consumer spending, monetary easing and a gradual stabilisation of global conditions. It also highlights longer‑term drivers such as deeper free‑trade agreements, industrial policy, infrastructure investment and skills development.

However, Deloitte warns of several downside risks. Escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East threaten key maritime routes, raising commodity‑price volatility, pressuring the trade deficit and the rupee’s value. Weather‑related uncertainty, especially an El Niño impact on agriculture, could also curb growth. The outlook reflects both optimism about domestic demand and caution about external shocks.
