India's GDP Grows 7.7% as PM Modi Praises Performance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a public gathering in Daman, announced that India's economy recorded a 7.7% growth rate for fiscal year 2025‑26, with the final quarter reaching 7.8%. He said the result reflects the country's resilience amid global economic uncertainty.

Modi credited the collective effort of India's 140 crore citizens and outlined continued reforms. He inaugurated development projects worth about ₹1,340 crore, including a new terminal at NAMO airport and the NAMO Hospital, aimed at boosting regional connectivity and health services.

He also highlighted rapid growth in tourism in the Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu region, noting visitor numbers rising from roughly 600,000 in 2021 to about 5 million by 2025, thanks to improved infrastructure, clean beaches and government initiatives.
