Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India's robust economic performance as the country's gross domestic product grew 7.7% in the 2025‑26 financial year, with the final quarter ending March 31 showing a 7.8% rise. He described the pace as a source of pride for every Indian and highlighted India's resilience amid global economic uncertainty, reaffirming its status as the world’s fastest‑growing major economy.
Modi also drew attention to the Daman region’s tourism surge, noting that visitor numbers jumped from about 600,000 in 2021 to roughly 5 million by 2025, driven by improved infrastructure, clean beaches and initiatives such as “See Your Country.” In the same event he inaugurated projects worth roughly ₹1,340 crore, including a new terminal at NAMO Airport and the NAMO Hospital, aimed at boosting regional connectivity, health services and overall economic development.
