India's Gems and Jewellery Exports Rise 26% in June to $2.21 Billion
India's gems and jewellery exports climbed 26.5% year‑on‑year in June, reaching $2.21 billion, according to industry data. The first quarter of fiscal year 2026 (April‑June) saw total exports rise to $6.61 billion, marginally above the same period a year earlier.
Polished diamond shipments increased 8.7% to $8.467 billion, while gold jewellery exports jumped 54.5% to $1.09 billion, driven by strong demand for heavy ornaments. In contrast, imports of rough diamonds fell, with gross imports at $70.03 million in June and a 32.4% annual decline for the April‑June span.
Analysts expect the positive trend to continue into the October‑December quarter, citing renewed consumer interest and the growing appeal of lab‑grown diamonds as cost‑effective alternatives.
