India's Gen Z movement triggers resignation of Education Minister

A social and political movement led by India’s Gen Z, known as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has gained significant momentum following derogatory remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The movement, which originated as a satirical social media presence founded by Abhijeet Dipke, has transitioned from online activism to large-scale street protests.

On July 25, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following intense pressure and demands from the CJP and thousands of protesting students. The resignation has led to celebrations and the suspension of protests at Jantar Mantar. Despite this political shift, protesters indicate that their demands extend beyond individual resignations, focusing on broader issues of corruption, press freedom, and disenfranchisement.
