India's gold and silver prices plunge as rupee strengthens, Delhi market reports

The bullion market in Delhi saw gold prices drop 4,800 rupees per 10 g to 154,400 rupees and silver fall 5,300 rupees per kilogram to 255,400 rupees. Analysts linked the decline to a stronger Indian rupee, weak domestic demand, and investors shifting to equities, while traders await the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy decision later in the week.

City‑wise rates on June 17 2026 show 24 K gold priced around 15,136 rupees per gram in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and 15,337 rupees in Chennai; 22 K gold ranges from 13,874 rupees to 14,059 rupees per gram. Silver prices average about 2,64,900 rupees per kilogram nationally, with slight variations across cities. The combined impact of currency strength and global monetary expectations continues to pressure precious‑metal prices in India.
