India's July GST Collections Reach ₹2.11 Lakh Crore

India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 15.4 % year‑on‑year to over ₹2.11 lakh crore in July 2026, driven by strong domestic sales and a sharp increase in import‑related GST revenue. Import GST grew about 29 % to roughly ₹66,511 crore, while total GST refunds rose 13.1 % to ₹29,968 crore, leaving net GST revenue at more than ₹1.81 lakh crore.

On August 1, 2026 the Union Government released an additional tax devolution of ₹1.09 lakh crore to state governments, ahead of the regular August 10 instalment. Uttar Pradesh received the largest share at ₹19,208 crore, with other major allocations to Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Kerala (₹2,597 crore). The advance transfer is intended to strengthen state finances and accelerate capital‑intensive development projects.

In the same month, Telangana recorded its highest‑ever single‑month commercial‑tax collection of ₹7,865 crore, reflecting robust economic activity and improved tax compliance across the state.
