India's Health Minister JP Nadda urges West Bengal MPs to accelerate TB elimination

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda chaired a meeting with Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from West Bengal during the Monsoon Session of Parliament in New Delhi. The gathering, held at the Extended Parliament House Annex, was part of a series of sensitisation talks with MPs from several states aimed at boosting political leadership for the "TB Mukt Bharat" mission.

Nadda highlighted the progress of the 100‑Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which ran in two phases – the first covering 347 high‑priority districts from December 2024 and the second reaching about 1.58 million high‑risk villages and urban wards from March 2025. He noted a 21 % decline in TB incidence in India between 2015 and 2024, nearly double the global average, and reiterated the goal of eliminating tuberculosis by 2030 in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
