The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) announced the formation of the E‑Commerce Council of India (ECCi) on July 17‑18, 2026. The council is a national platform intended to unite industry players, government bodies, startups, MSMEs, logistics firms and other stakeholders in the country’s digital commerce ecosystem.

About 70‑80 leading companies have joined the council, including Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Uber, eBay, Meesho, Tata 1MG and a range of logistics, payment and technology providers. ECCi will focus on policy coordination, research, best‑practice development and advocacy across service and product e‑commerce, cross‑border trade, logistics, digital payments, AI‑driven commerce and travel tech.

IAMAI chair Dr. Subho Re said the initiative aims to strengthen India’s $120 billion digital commerce sector by fostering continuous collaboration between industry and policymakers, shaping future regulations and enhancing the sector’s competitiveness both domestically and globally.
