India: PM Modi unveils ‘Shakti ki Saptadhara’ roadmap for 2047 vision FAST-MOVING
During India’s 80th Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined a strategic roadmap for the nation’s development, centered on the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision to achieve developed nation status by 2047.
To drive this growth, the Prime Minister unveiled ‘Shakti ki Saptadhara’, a seven-pillar framework encompassing manufacturing, agriculture and food processing, technology and innovation, Gati Shakti (infrastructure), Raksha Shakti (defence), green and blue economies, and soft power. He emphasized transforming India into a global manufacturing hub and a leader in emerging technologies like AI, quantum computing, and 6G.
Modi highlighted economic progress over the last 12 years, noting that India has transitioned from being among the ‘Fragile Five’ to the world’s fastest-growing major economy. He cited specific growth metrics, including a fourfold increase in defence production, a sevenfold increase in electronic manufacturing, and a 100-fold expansion in digital transactions.
Additional initiatives announced include providing free online coaching for competitive exams and training one crore youth in artificial intelligence skills. In the energy sector, the government aims to reach 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047, supported by the launch of five new nuclear reactors.
