India's AI Adoption Accelerates in Consumer, Industry and Government Sectors

A June 2024 Adobe study found that 60% of Indian consumers are interested in creating personal AI agents, the highest rate in the Asia‑Pacific region. More than half would interact with brand AI agents, and 58% are comfortable with agent‑to‑agent exchanges. Trust factors such as clear labelling (21% of respondents) and the ability to switch to a human representative (17%) are viewed as essential.

A KPMG Global Tech Report on industrial manufacturing reported that 68% of Indian manufacturers plan to scale AI within the next year, with 49% already seeing measurable business value. Executives cite data quality, cybersecurity and talent shortages as the main implementation challenges.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the ICAI AI Innovation Summit, urged responsible and inclusive AI use to help achieve the "Viksit Bharat" goal of a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing AI’s role in productivity, innovation and decision‑making.

Industry experts highlighted India’s large, skilled talent pool as a driver for AI‑led innovation, noting projects such as AI‑enabled waste‑management solutions and accelerated scientific research that could support sustainable growth.
