India's Joint Parliamentary Committee to hold second meeting on FCRA Bill
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, is scheduled to hold its second meeting on Tuesday, September 29, at the Parliament Annexe in New Delhi.
During the session, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Law and Justice will provide a clause-wise briefing on the proposed legislation. The amendments aim to reshape compliance, operational transparency, and financial oversight for entities receiving foreign grants, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), educational institutions, and think tanks.
Following the ministerial briefings, the committee will hear from various domain experts and stakeholders. Scheduled participants include State Bank of India Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty and Additional Solicitor General of India for the Delhi High Court Chetan Sharma. This follows the committee's inaugural meeting on September 18, where Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan outlined the policy framework and objectives of the bill.
