India's Ministry of Finance hosts workshop on financial inclusivity
The Department of Financial Services (DFS), under the Ministry of Finance, held a two-day workshop in Bengaluru to develop measures for increasing inclusivity within financial institutions. Conducted in association with the Union Bank of India, the event focused on improving the accessibility of financial services for Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities).
The workshop addressed Public Sector Banks, Public Sector Insurance Companies, sectoral regulators, and Public Financial Institutions. Key discussions included the ‘Sugamya Bharat’ initiative, accessibility compliance standards, and legal provisions. Participants, including experts and Divyangjan employees, shared insights on operational challenges and best practices to strengthen the financial services ecosystem.
Attendees included senior officials and Chief Technology Officers from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), alongside representatives from all 12 Public Sector Banks.
