India's MoSPI to strengthen capacity building for statistical officers

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the capacity-building framework for Indian Statistical Service (ISS) officers. Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary of MoSPI, received a report from the Committee for Reforming Capacity Building of the ISS, chaired by PR Meshram, Director General of Data Governance.

The committee, which included senior officers, industry experts, and knowledge partners, proposed a roadmap to prepare data leaders for next-generation requirements. The recommendations focus on aligning training with the Competency Based Capacity Building (CBCB) framework of Mission Karmayogi. This initiative aims to equip officers with skills in data governance, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to support the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision.
