India's NCC Cyclothon 2026 Flagged Off in New Delhi to Mark 79 Years of Independence

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and BJP MP Sanjay Seth officially flagged off the NCC Cyclothon 2026 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The 79‑kilometre cycling event featured 79 National Cadet Corps cadets and commemorated the 79th anniversary of India’s independence. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, former tennis star Leander Paes and former boxer Mary Kom attended the ceremony, with Mary Kom praising the initiative for promoting discipline, determination and a drug‑free, fit youth. The event highlighted the government’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) driven by the strength and potential of its young people.
