India's NeGD and AAERI launch AAERI Verify to streamline student document checks for Australian universities

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has partnered with the Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) to launch the AAERI Verify platform. Integrated directly with the DigiLocker digital locker, the service enables Indian students applying to Australian universities to share authenticated academic, identity and financial documents in a secure, paperless, consent‑based workflow.

The platform, unveiled at the AAERI Annual Convention in New Delhi on 7 August 2026, uses a two‑stage verification process: a pre‑application student check followed by a sponsor check after an admission offer to confirm financial authenticity. JL Gupta, Director of NeGD, said the initiative demonstrates how India's Digital Public Infrastructure can reduce fraud, protect data privacy and cut processing times for international admissions.
