India's NHAI announces extensive highway construction projects

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) released a series of tenders for highway construction and upgrades across multiple states, including a 108‑km Badvel‑Nellore stretch in Andhra Pradesh, a cloverleaf interchange on NH‑48 in Karnataka, short‑term improvements on NH‑44 in Telangana, routine maintenance on NH‑31 in Bihar, diversification works on NH‑54 in Assam, a bypass and FOB near Pinjore in the Himachal‑Punjab‑Haryana region, lane expansion on old NH‑95 in Punjab, grade‑separator projects in Himachal Pradesh, service‑road and drainage works in Bihar, and other projects totalling billions of rupees.

In Tamil Nadu, NHAI began expanding the NH‑44 corridor near Nallampalli and Dharmapuri, widening the road from 7 m to 14 m and adding a dedicated service road to accommodate heavy‑vehicle parking. The work, valued at about Rs 2.02 crore, is expected to ease congestion on the Salem‑Krishnagiri stretch and be completed by year‑end.
