India's Nifty slips as market opens lower amid global cues
On Tuesday, India's equity indices opened lower, with the Nifty 50 falling 34.05 points (‑0.14%) to 24,068.85 and the Sensex dropping 140.44 points (‑0.18%) to 76,953.63. Analysts linked the cautious start to weaker signals from overseas markets, lower crude‑oil prices and easing U.S.–Iran tensions, which they said could ease inflation pressures.
Technical commentary highlighted a key support level at 24,000 for the Nifty and resistance between 24,150‑24,200, noting that a breakout above that range could push the index toward 24,400. Despite the subdued open, market strategists recommended a list of 20 stocks across cash, futures, options and technical picks that could offer upside if the index regains momentum.
Regional peers showed mixed moves: Japan's Nikkei rose 3.6% and South Korea's KOSPI jumped 4.75%, while other Asian indices were modestly down. Foreign Institutional Investors sold ₹1,843 crore in cash shares, while domestic investors bought ₹3,637 crore, indicating net domestic buying support.
