India's NSE and Bharat Metal Exchange team up to boost non‑ferrous metal derivatives

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and Bharat Metal Exchange (BME) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop, promote and increase adoption of exchange‑traded non‑ferrous metal derivatives in India. The MoU, signed by NSE’s chief business development officer Sriram Krishnan and BME President Sushil R. Kothari, aims to strengthen market participation, improve price‑risk management and create hedging tools for stakeholders in copper, aluminium, zinc, lead and nickel.

The partnership will combine NSE’s derivatives market infrastructure with BME’s nine‑decade legacy in the physical metals trade. Joint outreach programmes will target producers, consumers, traders, processors, importers, exporters and industry associations to raise awareness of derivative products and encourage broader use of exchange‑based risk‑management solutions.
