India's Pabitra Margherita begins diplomatic tour in Samoa

Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, has arrived in Samoa to begin a three-nation diplomatic tour of the Pacific. The visit, which includes the Cook Islands and Nauru, marks the first state visit by an Indian government minister to Samoa in 56 years.

During his stay in Samoa, Margherita will participate in high-level engagements, including a traditional Ava Ceremony and bilateral meetings with Samoan leadership. Discussions are expected to focus on deepening political engagement and development cooperation, specifically within the framework of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).

Key areas of cooperation include the health sector, where existing agreements facilitate medical treatment for Samoan patients in India. Margherita is also scheduled to inspect various India-backed development initiatives throughout the region.
